Arab leaders
endorse a building of the Jewish Temple
At the beginning of the seven year Tribulation period, there will be a
peace plan that is put into place concerning Israel and the Arab
nations that will allow Israel to rebuild her Temple on the Temple
Mount.
Daniel 9 records that "He shall make a covenant with many for one week,
an Old Testament code word for "A week of years, or seven years.
At the beginning of that seven years, as a part of his new
peace
agreement, the antichrist will allow for a new temple to be built in
Jerusalem,
Jesus said in Matthew 24 that in the middle of this seven years, the
antichrist will have a statue of himself erected in the newly rebuilt
temple and that this statue will come to life and command the world
that it should worship the antichrist, called the "beast".
This
Jesus referred to as "the Abomination that brings Desolation".
Revelation chapter 11 records that John was told to "Measure the
temple" and that he is to "leave out" the outer court because it has
been given over to the Gentiles.
The following article seems to point the way to a new temple being
built in Jerusalem on the Temple Mount, now endorsed by Arab leaders.
TROUBLE
IN THE HOLY LAND
What? Muslim leader wants Temple rebuilt
Jewish Sanhedrin rabbis unite with Turk on common cause

With the Middle East still in chaos and rumors of war in the air, the
idea of rebuilding the Jerusalem Temple on a foundation occupied and
administered by Islamic militants might seem fanciful – even
preposterous.
But the author of a new book, "The Islamic Antichrist: The Shocking
Truth About the Real Nature of the Beast," returned from Turkey
recently with news that a prominent Islamic teacher and best-selling
author and Jewish Sanhedrin rabbis are conspiring to do just that.
In a column penned in WND today, author Joel Richardson reveals the
historically unprecedented development.
Adnan Oktar, who uses the pen name of Harun Yahya, is a controversial
but highly influential Muslim intellectual and author with more than 65
million of his books in circulation worldwide. Oktar recently met with
three representatives from the re-established Jewish Sanhedrin, a group
of 71 Orthodox rabbis and scholars from Israel, to discuss how
religious Muslims, Jews and Christians can work together on the project.
"The objectives of the alliance include waging a joint intellectual and
spiritual battle against the worldwide growing tide of irreligiousness,
unbelief and immorality," explains Richardson, who met in Turkey with
Oktar. "But even more unusual is their agreement with regard to the
need to rebuild the Jewish Temple, a structure that Mr. Oktar refers to
as the 'Masjid (Mosque)' or the 'Palace of Solomon.'"
An official statement about the meeting has been published on the
Sanhedrin's website. Concluding the statement is the following call:
"Out of a sense of collective responsibility for world peace and for
all humanity we have found it timely to call to the World and exclaim
that there is a way out for all peoples. It is etched in a call to all
humanity: We are all the sons of one father, the descendants of Adam,
and all humanity is but a single family. Peace among Nations will be
achieved through building the House of G-d, where all peoples will
serve as foreseen by King Solomon in his prayers at the dedication of
the First Holy Temple. Come let us love and respect one another, and
love and honor and hold our heavenly Father in awe. Let us establish a
house of prayer in His name in order to worship and serve Him together,
for the sake of His great compassion. He surely does not want the blood
of His creations spilled, but prefers love and peace among all mankind.
We pray to the Almighty Creator, that you harken to our Call. Together
– each according to his or her ability – we shall
work towards the
building of the House of Prayer for All Nations on the Temple Mount in
peace and mutual understanding."
Oktar explained his vision for the rebuilding of Solomon's Temple to
Richardson:
"The Palace of Solomon is a historically important palace and
rebuilding it would be a very wonderful thing. It is something that any
Jew, a Christian or a Muslim should welcome with enthusiasm. Every
Muslim, every believer will want to return to those days, to experience
those days again and, albeit partially, to bring the beauty of those
days back to life."
Joel Richardson and Adnan Oktar meet together in Istanbul July 21, 2009
Oktar added that the Temple of Solomon "will be rebuilt and all
believers will worship there in tranquility." During his meeting with
the Sanhedrin Rabbis, Oktar expressed his belief that the Temple could
be rebuilt in one year:
"It could be done in a year at most. It could be built to the same
perfection and beauty. The Torah says it was built in 13 years, if I
remember correctly. It could be rebuilt in a year in its perfect form."
Richardson later met with Rabbi Abrahamson and Rabbi Hollander, two of
the Sanhedrin representatives who conferred with Oktar. Regarding the
rebuilding of the Temple, Rabbi Hollander explained, "The building of
the Temple is one of the stages in the Messianic process." But another
possibility that has been presented is that the Dome of the Rock that
sits so prominently on the Temple Mount be used as "a place prayer for
all nations."
Do you prefer reading e-books? "The Islamic Antichrist" is also
available in electronic form at reduced price through Scribd.
"This should be fairly simple," explained Rabbi Hollander. "It is said
that the structure of the Dome in Haram E-Sharrif (the Temple Mount)
was originally meant by (Caliph) Omar to be a House of Prayer for Jews,
and the Al-Aqsa for Muslims."
However, he also explained that religious Jews would not be able to
enter the Dome of the Rock unless it had first been ritually cleansed
according to Jewish halakhic regulations.
This is not the only similar call to rebuild the Jewish Temple, points
out Richardson. Yoav Frankel is an Orthodox Jew who has been deeply
involved in interfaith dialogue with Muslims and also envisions a
shared Temple Mount. The Interfaith Encounter Association is working on
a project called "God's Holy Mountain." It sees the day when the
rebuilt Jewish Temple will exist side by side with the Dome of the Rock.
Richardson sees such plans tying in to Barack Obama's calls for
internationalizing the city of Jerusalem.
A recent poll showed nearly two-thirds of Israelis back the idea of
rebuilding the Temple.
"Meanwhile, the work of the Temple Institute, a group that has openly
dedicated itself for years to rebuilding the Jewish Temple goes on,"
writes Richardson.
It has already created many of the most significant priestly utensils
and pieces of furniture necessary for the Temple once it is ready.
"The suggestion of rebuilding the Jewish Temple is deeply significant
to Christians, particularly those who are students of Bible prophecy,"
explains Richardson. "According to the Bible, an impostor messiah known
as the Antichrist will someday invade the land of Israel and 'set
himself up' in the 'God’s Temple.'"
Richardson's book focuses on the striking parallels between the Bible's
prophecies about the coming messiah and Islam's traditions regarding
the one called "the Mahdi" – Islam’s primary
messiah figure, who will
one day invade the land of Israel and establish his seat of authority
on the Temple Mount.
Richardson's book stands in stark contrast to most other popular
prophecy books of the last 40 years.
The student of Islam and the Middle East says that after decades of
reading popular prophecy books and even best-selling fiction like the
"Left Behind" series, millions of evangelical Christians around the
world are expecting the Antichrist to emerge from a revived Roman
Empire, which many have assumed is associated with the Roman Catholic
Church and the European Union.
Not so, argues Richardson. His book makes the case that the biblical
Antichrist is one and the same as the Quran's Muslim Mahdi.
"The Islamic Antichrist" is almost certain to be greeted in the Muslim
world with the same enthusiasm as Salman Rushdie's "The Satanic
Verses." The author, Joel Richardson, is prepared. He has written the
book under a pseudonym to protect himself and his family.
"The Bible abounds with proofs that the Antichrist's empire will
consist only of nations that are, today, Islamic," says Richardson.
"Despite the numerous prevailing arguments for the emergence of a
revived European Roman empire as the Antichrist's power base, the
specific nations the Bible identifies as comprising his empire are
today all Muslim."
Richardson believes the key error of many previous prophecy scholars
involves the misinterpretation of a prediction by Daniel to Babylonian
King Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel describes the rise and fall of empires of
the future, leading to the endtimes. Western Christians have viewed one
of those empires as Rome, when, claims Richardson, Rome never actually
conquered Babylon and was thus disqualified as a possibility.
It had to be another empire that rose and fell and rose again that
would lead to the rule by this "man of sin," described in the Bible.
That empire, he says, is the Islamic Empire, which did conquer Babylon
and, in fact, rules over it even today.
Many evangelical Christians believe the Bible predicts a charismatic
ruler, the Antichrist, will arise in the last days, before the return
of Jesus. The Quran also predicts that a man, called the Mahdi, will
rise up to lead the nations, pledging to usher in an era of peace.
Richardson makes the case these two men are, in fact, one in the same.
His book was an instant best-seller on the Amazon charts when it
debuted Tuesday. It remains No. 1 in two religion categories.
Richardson is the co-author with Walid Shoebat of "God's War on Terror:
Islam, Prophecy and the Bible" and co-editor of "Why We Left Islam:
Former Muslims Speak Out." "The Islamic Antichrist" is published by WND
Books and is available autographed in the WND Superstore.
LAW OF THE LAND
Christian belief a
'hate crime' under plan
Backup proposal
would mandate jail time for dissing a 'gay'

The National Prayer Network is promoting a campaign aimed at defeating
"hate crimes" proposals
Americans worried about new "hate crime" legislation that could be used
to make criminals of those whose religious faith doesn't endorse
homosexuality could be facing a two-pronged attack, according to groups
that monitor those developments.
The newest threat is being prepared by U.S. Rep. John Conyers, the head
of the House Judiciary Committee, whose work is being called "The Local
Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007," according to the
Rev. Ted Pike, of the National Prayer Network.
He said a letter to other members of the House was intercepted by Focus
on the Family and indicated that it "gives the federal government even
more power to create a bias motivation justice system, turning America
into a police state."
Michael Marcavage, director of Repent America and Pike both had alerted
their constituencies earlier to H.R. 254, or the David Ray Hate Crimes
Prevention Act, which could create "anti-hate" restrictions and
penalties.
Marcavage told WND that plan would invert American justice, and instead
of requiring evidence it would leave it to someone who claims to be
offended to determine whether a "crime" has been committed.
"Truth is not allowed as evidence in hate crimes trials. … A
homosexual can claim emotional damage from hearing Scripture that
describes his lifestyle as an abomination. He can press charges against
the pastor or broadcaster who merely reads the Bible in public. The
'hater' can be fined thousands of dollars and even imprisoned!"
Marcavage said.
So there immediately was a flood of calls to Congress with opposition
to H.R. 254 and it appeared that the plan might not make it out of
committee. In fact, records show it still is pending in the House
Judiciary Committee
But Pike is says the danger is far from over.
Rev. Ted Pike, of the National Prayer Network
"I think H.R. 254 may be a decoy, designed to absorb the bulk of
protest from Christians and conservatives. Because of massive protest,
it may be voted down or set aside in Judiciary soon. But Conyers will
then substitute the bill that's really wanted by the Anti-Defamation
league of B'nai B'rith, architect of this legislation," Pike said.
"Conyers could reintroduce this bill very soon. Since Nancy Pelosi and
the House Rules Committee can speed any bill forward for a House vote,
even bypassing Judiciary altogether, Conyers and Pelosi could almost
immediately put LLEHCPA at the head of the docket and up for a vote in
the House," he said.
Pike said the same plan passed the House in 2005, but not the Senate.
This year, "buttressed by a host of co-sponsors and virtually untainted
by criticism, it could be sped forward," he said.
But he said mainstream media has remained virtually silent, and "the
vast majority of Americans remain oblivious to the existence of the
hate bill in Congress, or how it dangles like the blade of a guillotine
over our precious and vulnerable liberty," Pike said.
"Now more than ever, 'eternal vigilance is the price of liberty,'" Pike
said.
As WND has reported, such laws already have been used around the world,
where in Canada pastors are fearful of reading biblical injunctions
against homosexuality, and in Australia where two pastors were
convicted of "vilifying" Islam.
The H.R. 254 plan, proposed by Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee, D-Texas, is
"stealth legislation at its most devious," Pike said earlier. He said
people take a glance, and then say, "This bill just wants federal power
to prosecute bias-motivated violent crimes in the states –
what's
wrong with that?"
"There's plenty wrong with that!" he said. First, the Constitution does
not grant federal government the "police state privilege" of being your
local law enforcement. "Unless the government finds evidence of slavery
in the states, jury tampering, voter fraud, or crimes involving
interstate commerce (where jurisdiction is unclear), the Constitution's
message to the federal government is blunt and emphatic: 'Butt out of
local law enforcement!'"
However, Pike said the authors of the new legislation have been clever,
inserting in the proposal assertions that because five states do not
have hate laws, the federal government has "no choice" but to "enhance
federal enforcement of hate crimes." That includes new ranks of federal
agents to address the "serious national problem" that exists.
Worse yet, there are some key phrases that open doors wide that many
people don't want opened. For example, Pike said, the bill is to
"prevent and respond to alleged violations," meaning "the government
does not even have to wait until a hate crime has been committed but
may act pre-emptively to 'prevent' crime."
Peter LaBarbera, of Americans for Truth, noted that in Canada and
France both, legislators have been fined for publicly criticizing
homosexuality. Three years ago, a Swedish hate crimes law was used to
put Pastor Ake Green, who preached that homosexuality is a sin, in jail
for a month.
"And recently, a British couple told how they were denied the chance to
adopt because it was determined that their Christian faith might
'prejudice' them against a homosexual child put in their care,"
LaBarbera added.
Already in the United States, Catholic Charities of Boston halted all
adoption operations in the state after being told under Massachusetts'
pro-'gay' nondiscrimination law, only agencies that placed children in
homosexual-led households would get licensed by the state.
He suggested a visit to StopHateCrimesNow to hear the testimonies of
those who have had first-hand experience with so-called "hate crimes"
laws. A 75-year-old grandmother describes how she was jailed for
testifying about the Bible, in the United States.
Members who commented on a blog expressed alarm.
"This lays the groundwork for the 'thought police,'" said "onlymom,"
while "curveboy" said, "the implications of such a bill would put
dissent of the government under hate speech and (offenders could) be
arrested and thrown into detention camps... hate bill legislations
needs to be dealt with in a fine line. once crossed there won't be any
freedom of speech...."
Repent America, some of whose members already have served jail time
simply for proclaiming the biblical message, is joining in sounding the
alarm.
"Having been charged under Pennsylvania's hate crimes law for declaring
the truth about homosexuality, I can assure you that if this bill is
passed and signed into law, it will be used to put Christians behind
bars," said Marcavage.

Organization Says
They Know the Solution to Pandemic Decline in US Church Attendance
Secular news media
and evangelical leaders alike have been mystified by the large-scale
exodus from the church in America.
One non-profit ministry says they not only know what the problem is,
they are hosting a conference to declare the solution.

CINCINNATI, Aug. 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- The church in America is
dying. The staggering statistics continue pouring in to prove it. At an
alarming rate, many families in the church are falling apart and
leaving the faith altogether. Recent surveys indicate that over 80% of
evangelical teens will leave the church by the time they graduate.
Churches around the country have been trying increasingly innovative
and nontraditional means to reverse this trend. In 2006, New York Times
said:
"Despite their packed megachurches, their political clout and their
increasing visibility on the national stage, evangelical Christian
leaders are warning one another that their teenagers are abandoning the
faith in droves."
The National Center for Family Integrated Churches in Wake Forest,
North Carolina exists to reverse this trend. Director Scott Brown says,
"The church in America has been looking in the wrong places for the
answers to declining church attendance. God's word has specific
solutions which are being ignored." He says that is why they are
hosting the Sufficiency of Scripture 2009 conference in Cincinnati,
Ohio.
Scheduled conference speakers include Ken Ham of the Creation Museum,
Voddie Baucham, Paul Washer, Doug Phillips, Scott Brown, Kevin Swanson
and many others.
"In the fifteenth century," says Scott Brown, "the church was in a
similar state of disrepair. The solution then is the same today. 'Sola
Scriptura' 'Scripture Alone' We must go back to the Word of God and
stop complying with the rationalism's of men that have corrupted the
church."

Genesis: Real,
Reliable, Historical
by Andrew A. Snelling, Ph.D.*
Introduction to Earth's Catastrophic Past
Why Take Genesis Seriously?
The first eleven chapters of the Bible have been relegated by many to
the category of myths, not real history. These are said to contain
spiritual truth, but they cannot be taken seriously as records of real
people and events. Many sincere Christians who believe the Bible do not
know what their pastors believe about the historicity of Genesis. Is it
safe to assume that these believe in the following truths?
God created everything in six 24-hour days.
Adam and Eve were real people.
God cursed a perfect world as a judgment for sin.
Noah constructed an Ark by which two of every kind of air-breathing,
land-dwelling animal were saved along with Noah's family from a global
flood.
The confusion of languages at the Tower of Babel produced the language
groups that are found around the world today.
An alarming number of Christian leaders and teachers instead believe
that God "created" through evolutionary processes over millions of
years, that Adam and Eve descended from a hominid population, and that
there has never been a global flood, suggesting that the account of
Noah and the Ark is a story adapted from a Babylonian myth.
Mainstream Christian orthodoxy regarded the opening chapters of Genesis
as just as real and reliable as the rest of the Bible until 150-200
years ago. So what has happened?
This downgrading of the early chapters of Genesis has coincided with
the rise of uniformitarian philosophy as the cornerstone of modern
geology and of evolution as the core of modern biology. Christians have
been ignorant of the process that has gradually changed their whole
approach to the Bible. Consequently, Christian churches throughout the
world reject the early chapters of Genesis as history, resulting in all
manner of compromise intended to force geological ages and organic
evolution into the Scriptures. Many Christians have shelved this
apparent conflict as being divisive, too difficult to resolve, or
irrelevant to the Christian faith.
Genesis as Reliable History
Yet the conflict still rages. What makes it more intense is that in the
ranks of those Christians who have not compromised the historicity of
Genesis are many scientists with doctoral degrees from the modern
education system.
The Creation Science Movement in Great Britain and the Creation
Research Society, which now boasts a membership of over 600 individuals
with graduate degrees in science, have sought to remain faithful to
accepting Genesis as reliable history. The Institute for Creation
Research employed scientists with Ph.D.s to work full-time in
creationist research, writing, and teaching. Other creationist groups
were subsequently formed so that today there are creationist
organizations in all corners of the globe.
So why would thousands of highly-trained scientists not only believe
Genesis to be reliable history, but base their scientific research on
the details and implications of that history? It stems foremost from
their Christian convictions.
The Bible never claims to be a textbook on history or science, but if
God is who He claims to be, then He has all knowledge and power, and
never makes mistakes. Therefore, if the Bible is the Word of God, then
it must be truthful, even when it touches upon matters of history and
science. Otherwise, this Creator God is a liar. The very character of
God requires the first eleven chapters of Genesis to be a trustworthy
record.
The subsequent pages of Genesis recount the early history of the nation
of Israel, beginning with Abraham. Few conservative Christian scholars
would deny the historicity of these later chapters in Genesis. Yet many
regard the creation account as a form of ancient Hebrew poetry, even
though the genre throughout the first eleven chapters of Genesis is no
different to that used in the remainder of the book. The conflict
occurs not with the language but with the supposed scientific facts
that insist on a multi-billion-year-old earth and organic evolution. A
choice has to be made between Scripture, which is authored by God, and
modern science, authored by men.
Liberal Christian scholars insist that Genesis was written perhaps as
late as the post-Babylonian exile. But such claims overlook that in the
pre-Flood world, people built cities, had tools of brass and iron, and
made musical instruments. In Genesis 5, the record of Adam ends with
the expression "this is the book of the generations of Adam." There is
no reason to suppose that Adam and his descendants were not able to
write and keep records, remembering that on the sixth day of creation
Adam named all the animals, thus demonstrating his intellectual
capacity.
Moses, the traditionally recognized author of Genesis, simply had to
compile the book of Genesis from the records kept by Adam and his
descendants. Thus Genesis reads as eyewitness accounts.
If the Creator God of the Bible is who He says He is, then not only is
He capable of accurately telling us about the early universe, the
earth, and man, but He is capable of having the details truthfully
recorded and transmitted through successive generations.
Jesus Regarded Genesis as Real History
If Jesus was (and is) both the Creator God and a perfect man, then His
pronouncements are always and absolutely trustworthy. And Jesus
referred directly to details in each of the first seven chapters of
Genesis fifteen times. For example, Jesus referred to Genesis 1:26-27
when He said in Mark 10:6, "But from the beginning of the creation God
made them male and female." Man was created male and female "from the
beginning of the creation," not after millions of years. In the very
next verse, Jesus quotes directly from Genesis 2:24 when He said, "For
this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his
wife; and they twain shall be one flesh." Five times Jesus refers to
Noah and/or the destructive global Flood as real history. If He, as the
Creator, was actually a witness to the events of Genesis 1-11, then we
have no alternative but to regard these opening chapters of the Bible
as reliable history.
The Apostle Peter's Prophecy
Peter spent three years traveling in the company of Jesus Christ
Himself. Then Peter was a witness to Jesus' death and the bodily
resurrection. Peter and the other disciples also received extraordinary
ability and authority with the gift of God's Holy Spirit. Thus the
books of the New Testament that bear his name not only come from his
pen, but have the authority of God.
In 2 Peter 3:5-6, the apostle Peter prophesied that there would be
scoffers who would come in the last days choosing to be ignorant of the
fact that God created the heaven and the earth, and that God later
destroyed everything on the surface of the earth by a global watery
cataclysm.
Peter stated in 2 Peter 3:3, "knowing this first." This denotes Peter
placed first priority on this prophecy, which is about those who would
reject the account of creation and the global Flood in Genesis 1-11 as
real history.
What is quite remarkable is the explanation Peter gives as to why these
scoff and reject the physical evidence that He created the heavens and
the earth and sent a global mountain-covering flood. 2 Peter 3:4 tells
that these scoffers' philosophy will be that "all things continue as
they were from the beginning of the creation." This is an apt
description of the philosophy of uniformitarianism, popularized by
Charles Lyell in the 1830s, that "the present is the key to the past."
Thus we can extrapolate geological processes shaping the earth today
back in time to explain how earth’s rock features were formed.
It was on the basis of this philosophy that billions of years of slow
and gradual geological processes became the foundation for modern
geology. This provided the timescale necessary for the theory of
organic evolution to explain the development of all life on the earth,
instead of accepting that God had created it all.
Peter wrote an accurate description of these scoffers more than 1,700
years ago. Peter believed that the opening chapters of Genesis were
real history and he predicted what we see today--the rejection of
special creation by God and the rejection of the global Flood.
The Reliability of the Whole Bible Depends on Genesis as History
It is impossible to reject the historicity of the book of Genesis
without repudiating the authority of the entire Bible. If Genesis is
not true, then neither are the testimonies of those prophets and
apostles who believed it was true. In the Old Testament, for example,
Adam is mentioned in Deuteronomy, Job, and 1 Chronicles, while Noah is
mentioned in 1 Chronicles, Isaiah, and Ezekiel. There are at least 100
quotations or direct references to Genesis 1-11 in the New Testament.
Furthermore, every one of those eleven chapters is alluded to in the
New Testament, and every one of the New Testament authors refers
somewhere in his writings to Genesis 1-11.
In not one of these Old or New Testament references to Genesis is there
the slightest evidence that the writers regarded the events as myths or
allegories. The word genesis means "beginnings" or "origin," so Genesis
1-11 records for us God's provision of the only reliable account of the
origin of the universe, the solar system, the earth, the atmosphere,
and the oceans, of order and complexity, life, man, marriage, evil,
language, government, culture, nations, and religion, not to mention
rocks and fossils. Thus Genesis 1-11 is of such foundational importance
to all history that without it there is no true understanding of
ourselves or our world.
What we believe about our origin will inevitably determine our beliefs
concerning our purpose and our destiny. Naturalistic concepts provide
no hope of there being anything more than what we see around us. On the
other hand, an origin at the hands of an all powerful, loving God
guarantees a meaning to our existence, and a future. By not taking
Genesis seriously, many Christians have in fact undermined the rest of
the Bible they claim to believe and follow. They are also in danger of
unwittingly accusing Jesus Christ of being a false witness, deceived,
or a deceiver.
The Pivotal Importance of the Flood
The creation account in Genesis 1 is undoubtedly profound. However, the
global Flood in Noah's day is of pivotal importance in understanding
the present geology of the earth. Furthermore, more than any other
branch of science, geology has been most affected by uniformitarianism.
This philosophy and evolution have brought about rejection of Genesis
1-11, even by Christians. It is no wonder that the apostle Peter was
led to single out those who reject the Genesis accounts. But God has
also left in the rocks, fossils, and living world evidence that
unmistakably testifies to the trustworthiness of the Genesis record.
Therefore, Earth's Catastrophic Past will focus on the global Flood as
described in Genesis, and the scientific evidence that has convinced
many that Genesis must be taken as history. The evidence we can observe
today should be consistent with what we read in Genesis, because if it
is God's Word, even details of science and history must be correct.
This book first re-examines the biblical record. Then it deals with the
non-geological arguments that are often used to discount Genesis. The
next task is to build the framework for a scriptural geology. The Flood
description implies catastrophism and utter devastation, and therefore
we would expect the field data to be in harmony. The radioactive dating
methods, geological processes, coal beds, oil, mineral deposits, and
more can be seen only as perceived problems, not real ones.
By the end of this study, readers will have their faith restored in
Genesis as real, literal history, and be convinced that the scientific
evidence, correctly discerned and applied, is indeed consistent with
God’s record of our origins and history found in Genesis 1-11.
'Massive' ancient wall
uncovered in Jerusalem
JERUSALEM (CNN) -- An archaeological dig in Jerusalem has turned up a
3,700-year-old wall that is the largest and oldest of its kind found in
the region, experts say.
The wall is built of enormous boulders, confounding archaeologists as
to how ancient peoples built it.
Standing 8 meters (26 feet) high, the wall of huge cut stones is a
marvel to archaeologists.
"To build straight walls up 8 meters ... I don't know how to do it
today without mechanical equipment," said the excavation's director,
Ronny Reich. "I don't think that any engineer today without electrical
power [could] do it."
Archaeologist Eli Shukron of the Israel Antiquities Authority added,
"You see all the big boulders -- all the boulders are 4 to 5 tons."
The discovered section is 24 meters (79 feet) long. "However, it is
thought the fortification is much longer because it continues west
beyond the part that was exposed," the Israel Antiquities Authority
said in a news release.
It was found inside the City of David, an archaeological excavation
site outside the Old City of East Jerusalem on a slope of the Silwan
Valley.
The wall is believed to have been built by the Canaanites, an ancient
pagan people who the Bible says inhabited Jerusalem and other parts of
the Middle East before the advent of monotheism. Watch report on the
discovery of the ancient wall »
"This is the most massive wall that has ever been uncovered in the City
of David," Reich and Shukron said in a joint statement about the find.
It marks the first time "that such massive construction that predates
the Herodian period has been discovered in Jerusalem."
It appears to be part of a "protected, well-fortified passage that
descends to the spring tower from some sort of fortress that stood at
the top of the hill," according to the joint statement.
The spring "is located in the weakest and most vulnerable place in the
area. The construction of a protected passage, even though it involves
tremendous effort, is a solution for which there are several parallels
in antiquity, albeit from periods that are later than the remains
described here."
Such walls were used primarily to defend against marauding desert
nomads looking to rob the city, said Reich, a professor at the
University of Haifa.
"We are dealing with a gigantic fortification, from the standpoint of
the structure's dimensions, the thickness of its walls and the size of
the stones that were incorporated in its construction," the joint
statement said.
Water from the spring is used by modern inhabitants of Jerusalem.
"The new discovery shows that the picture regarding Jerusalem's eastern
defenses and the ancient water system in the Middle Bronze Age 2 is
still far from clear," Reich said. "Despite the fact that so many have
excavated on this hill, there is a very good chance that extremely
large and well-preserved architectural elements are still hidden in it
and waiting to be uncovered."

Campout in
August
We are in the planning stages for a new Camping Trip to Blue Ridge
Reservoir in the month of August. The trip will most liekly
be
during the weekdays this time around, so as to not interfere with our
Friday He-Brews Cafe, Saturday Men's and Women's studies and the two
Sunday services.
Another possibility is that we would have the camping trip on the
weekend, but pastor Rob would return on Sunday morning to give the
regular church service in the Sanctuary.
He-Brews Cafe
On Friday nights, Calvary Chapel of Winslow has an opportunity for all
Christians to join together for a time of great food and
fellowship. Join us from 6-8 pm for a BBQ, Christian Music
video's, and an opportunity go knit our hearts together and become
closer in our relationships with each other.
Standing
on the Rock Outreach 2009
On Saturday September 26, 2009 Calvary Chapel Winslow participated in
an awesome outreach to the Community of Winslow during the annual
"Standing on the Corner" celebration that the city of Winslow puts on
each year. This was our first annual outreach that we called "Standing
on the Rock". We gave out 180 Hamburgers and Hot dogs for free
and 175 Chick Gospel Tracks to the wonderful people of Winslow.
We had an incredible time sharing the Love of Jesus Christ with
our community and pledged to come back next year with a bigger and
better outreach to our people. You can see the pictures from this
event

Congressional
Briefing in Washington D.C. 2009
September 12-19 Melinda and I attended a very special Congressional
Briefing with our United States Senators and Congressmen in Washington
D.C. The purpose of this briefing was to inform us on the current
spiritual conditions of American government and to educate us on
the Spiritual Heritage that America has. We learned that those who
framed our Constitution and Signed our Declaration of Independance,
believed that this country should be formed around the laws of the
Bible and based on Christian principles. See the complete
briefing

Calvary Chapel Africa Guards Beaten
Supplies
Stolen
e mail from pastor Ed Compean of Calvary Chapel Africa
Thank you for all the prayer and encouragement concerning the beating
of our guard and the theft of ministry supplies. Yesterday (our Sunday)
was absolutely wonderful! God came and blessed in a powerful way. The
church has really taken it in stride, many came early to help set up
planks of wood on building blocks as a sort of pew, people shared
Bibles and we took communion together. I shared that their friends in
the States and as far as Japan (is that farther than States?) have sent
encouraging words and are praying. It was a sweet time that we ended in
prayer, even asking God to draw the thieves to Himself. I could go on,
but I want to that you and let you know your prayer and encouragement
has been used to tear down strongholds. Though it is an evil day, we
stand in the power of His might.
Even though the church suffered such terrible loss, the people came
anyway to hear the Word of God and to pray to the Lord of Heaven and
thank Him for all His many blessings
