The book of 1 John had an emphasis on Love.  The Book of 2 John focuses on Truth.  3 John focues is upon Faithfulness.  What three better qualities are ther for the follower of Jesus to desire and cultivate in their life.

2 John addresses the fact that by the time that John wrote this letter, there had already began false teachers who came in and took advantage of the love and generosity of the new believers.  John writes to warn against these false teachers and instructs the believers there to be discerning in their hospitality.

Love should never be given at the expense of truth.  If any teacher denies the truth of who Jesus is, then that techer should not even be allowed into a believers house.  When believers compromise on the truth the entire church is in jeapardy.
